Jahorina Ski Resort, once an Olympic mountain during the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics, remains an exceptional winter sports destination. Towering at 1,916 meters above sea level, Jahorina is blessed with one to three meters of snow from December to March. The resort boasts 47 kilometers of diverse trails and eight ski lifts, including a new gondola lift and modern six-seater fast lifts, accommodating around 17,000 skiers per hour. Despite its world-class facilities, Jahorina is still a relatively undiscovered gem, offering a quieter and more intimate skiing experience compared to the crowded slopes of Western Europe.
When it comes to après-ski, Jahorina is continually upping its game. Start your evening at Termag’s main hotel bar, “Kamin Sala,” known for its tasteful decor and relaxed atmosphere. For a more rustic experience, head to Koliba, which offers an open fire, stunning views, and live music. Hotel Lavina bar is another hotspot, featuring live music several nights a week and attracting a mix of locals and tourists. The resort also hosts special events, including music festivals and concerts, adding an extra layer of excitement to your winter getaway.
Your adventure begins as soon as you land at Sarajevo Airport. After a short transfer to the hotel, freshen up for an engaging afternoon tour of Sarajevo. Discover the rich history and cultural heritage of this fascinating city. After the tour, we head to Jahorina Ski Resort, where you check in and prepare for the days ahead.
After a hearty breakfast, you head to the mountains. Jahorina offers 47 kilometers of challenging slopes and modern lifts. Enjoy an affordable lunch on the mountain and get ready for more skiing action in the afternoon. The day concludes with a cozy après-ski at local bars in the valley.
Your second day on the slopes of Jahorina. Refine your skiing or snowboarding techniques and enjoy the beautiful landscape. After a day full of action, you can choose to relax at the resort or explore the local apres ski further.
The morning and early afternoon are reserved for skiing. In the evening, we return to Sarajevo for a unique night out. We take you to a converted cinema that now serves as a bustling club. Get carried away by authentic Bosnian live music and dance until you drop!
After an unforgettable trip and a final Bosnian breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye. A transfer takes you back to Sarajevo Airport for your return flight.
When going on a winter sports trip, it’s important to bring appropriate gear to ensure your safety and comfort. Here are some essential items to consider packing:
Remember, always check the weather forecast and trail conditions before heading out, and follow all safety guidelines and rules of the resort or mountain.
When it comes to ski and snowboard rentals, there is a noticeable variation in quality. However, none of the options can compare to the high standards found in modern European ski resorts. While the equipment may be slightly older, it is generally well-maintained.
It is important to carefully consider the ski materials offered by rental shops, and don’t be afraid to request alternative options. It is always better to speak up and ensure that you are comfortable with the gear you will be using.
If you happen to own your own equipment, it is highly recommended that you bring it with you. This will guarantee that you are using gear that you are familiar with and have tested before.
